This will talk abut wedding vows in Russian and marriage in general. Russian weddings are Orthodox. I love this Church as they use a lot of old natural candles, incense and beautiful chants, however, the services are long.  Wedding parties are like in the west, however,even drinking once a stable of any Wedding in Russian is not sometimes not present at the wedding reception.

Wedding vows in Russian

“Имеешь ли ты искреннее и непринужденное желание
и твердое намерение быть мужем этой (имя невесты),
которую видишь здесь перед собою?”,
-спрашивает священник, и жених отвечает:
-”Имею, честный отче”.-”Не связан ли ты обещанием другой невесте?”
-”Нет, не связан”.

Затем, обратившись к невесте, священник спрашивает:
“Имеешь ли ты искреннее и непринужденное желание
и твердое намерение быть женою этого (имя жениха),
которого видишь перед собою?”
-”Имею, честный отче”.
-”Не связана ли обещанием другому жениху?”
-”Нет, не связана”.

Translation of Wedding vows in Russian

“Do you, sincere and freely and  choose
the commitment to be the husband of the (name of bride)
you see here before you? ”
asks the priest and the bridegroom says:
- “I do, reverend Father,” .- “Are not you the promise of another woman?”
- “No, not connected.”

Then, turning to the bride, the priest asks:
“Do you, sincere and spontaneous desire
and the commitment to be the wife of (name of groom)
which you see before me? ”
- “I have, reverend father.”
- “Are not the promise of another suitor?”
- “No, not connected.

Then the rest goes on just like in English wedding vows but with some variations.

My view on Marriage in Russia

If you are not going to be married for life and forever, all or nothing, then why get married.  I guess this is not just about Russia but all wedding vows.

And then everyone is honest, there is no surprises. If you do not mean your wedding promises why get married. You go proclaim to everybody that you are just a new wave type of person, a swinging party guy or girl,  but not someone who believes in marriage.

Therefore each you make wedding vows,and are not prepared to live up to the promise, skip the wedding and go to the Caribbean islands live together and then after a few years find new loggers and move on.

When you’re in your old age use can still be cruising nightclubs and discos and have twenty plastic surgeries and and hope you’re still in the game.

I have a simpler way, if you want to get married, why not just find the one you love, and stay with them forever. Marriage in Russia or anywhere it is clear, it is forever.
