German weddings,  vary from simple to proper. Most Germans get a religious rather than civil ceremony. Remember Germans wear their marriage bans on their right hand.

The German groom’s promise
Ich nehme Dich (girl’ name), zu meiner Gattin (girls name) und verspreche, Dir die Treue zu halten in guten und bösen Tagen, in Gesundheit und Krankheit, ja Dich will ich lieben und achten, bis der Tod uns scheidet.

The German bride’s promise
Ich nehme Dich, (man’s name), zu meinem Gatten (bride’s name) und verspreche, Dir die Treue zu halten in guten und bösen Tagen, in Gesundheit und Krankheit, ja Dich will ich lieben und achten, bis der Tod uns scheidet.

English translation of German wedding vows

I take you(name), to be my (wife, husband) (name) and I promise to keep faithful to you in good times and bad times, in health and sickness, yes I want you to love and respect, until death do us part.

What are wedding vows in any language

Never speak wrongly to others about your spouse.  Honor them and be patient with them.  Most of all love them all the days of your life and beyond with all your strength heart and soul.  This is marriage.  Wedding vows in what ever language you speak them are the same.  They are a promise in public for all to hear about your devotion and commitment to love.

Many people like to write their own wedding promises.  For me, it does not matter, what matters is not howl a person speaks, but rather if they mean what they say.

You can have the most expensive wedding ceremony, however, if you build your house on sand then what does it matter.

who is responsible for making the marriage work?  100 percent of the responsibility is always on you.  He should never point your finger at your spouse and make them responsible.  You entered the marriage openly and willingly with the mature understanding that it is your responsibility and not anyone else’s to love and to honor and to serve all the days of your life.

Many people today, do not like the idea that they will serve their spouse.  On the other hand, they have no problem serving their balls nights and weekends.  They will work for another woman’s husband at their career but not work with their husband.

Also men also would rather spend time with their female coworkers or their friends, rather than be with their beloved.
