For this recipe I recommend to use dry peas not frozen one. It has different favour and it taste very good with smoked meat.
Ingredients:
2 cups of dry peas
4 cups of water
1 pound of smoked beef (or any meat you like)
1 quart of broth
2-3 bay leaves
3 grains of whole allspice
salt
black pepper
crouton, toast or fried bread
Wash peas in cold water. Soak it overnight, put twice as much water as peas. Boil peas soft (for about 40 minutes) in as much
water as will cover them along with spices and meat. Pass cooked peas and meat through a sieve. Cut meat into small pieces. Put peas and meat in broth and cook on low heat for few minutes (5-7 minutes). Serve with croutons or toasts.
