Herring is big in Baltic sea. This is why in Russian and Polish cooking your will find many herring recipes. In my opinion the Baltic is clean. The beaches I have been on a white a clean as was the water. I think Baltic herring is good. Ok here is theRussian cream of herring soup recipe.
Place two cups of milk, two cups of water, one small onion, salt and
pepper to taste in a saucepan, and boil for ten minutes, add two
herrings which have been previously soaked and cut in small pieces; cook
until herring is tender.
Herring of couse has great Omega 3, however, and lots of amino acids. So eat some herring soup everyday.
