Do you want to have better memory and stronger heart? If your answer is yes you should include herring in your diet. This little fish is also very good for weight loss, so it is really worth to have it for breakfast or lunch from time to time. Herring was always present in polish cuisine. Usually it is served cold with sour cream or oil with onion. This recipe is for stuffed, hot herring.
Ingredients:
- 8 herring fillets
- 2 onions
- 1 egg
- 1/2 glass of bread crumbs
- 2 tbs of chopped parsley
- 1 glass of fring oil
- 5 tbs of butter
- 3 tbs of lemon juice
- 2 tbs of flour
- salt and black pepper
- toothpicks
1. Chop onion, melt butter and add onion.
2. Sauté onion for about 8 minutes, add bread crumbs, salt, pepper and parsley and sauté for another 2 minnutes.
3. Stir the egg in.
4. Stuff each herring, roll it up and join it with toothpicks.
5. Dredge herrings with flour and fry it until gold.
6. Serve hot, sprinkled with lemon juice.
Herring, is like the sushi of Eastern Europe, in fact at Polish milk bars they refer to some herring recipes as a Japanese herring recipe, but it’s really a Polish herring recipe.

I live in Krakow, Poland so I have it everywhere. In big containers. However, in the States most cities have Russian or Polish stores. Where are you? (I am American also).
