My wife from the Polish countryside makes Polish mushroom sauce this way. If you have any questions ask and we will reply.
- Fry some mushrooms in butter just for the taste.
- They should be golden color 4 or 5 minutes
- Add one chopped onion (because onions fry quicker than mushrooms). Then another 2 minutes
- And add some salt and pepper
- Add a cup of water, it could not swim in there but covered.
- Let it simmer for ten minutes and from time to time you have to mix it.
- The seperately in a cup prepare 1/3 a cup of water and you add some flour in it the consitancy should be like sour cream. Pretty think, maybe three tablespoons.
- Pour it into the mushoom sauce and you have to mix it very well. You pour it gradually.
- Let it simmer for another minute and it is ready.
About Polish mushrooms
Poland is the land of mushrooms. I think it is the climate, that is damp and forest filled. I have never seen so many types mushrooms until I came to Poland. In the open market in the fall you see mushrooms everywhere.
Mushrooms and healing
There are many types of healing mushrooms. Lion’s mane mushroom for example or Shataki mushrooms for the immune system. You can grow them yourself, if you can not find them. Also drying is quite easy for various times in the year when you can not get them fresh.
We recently moved to Florida and wonder if we can grow them here. We were growing them like crazy in Krakow.
