I am from the west, I do not know if I could say if people think so deeply about faith, life and the seriousness of relationships. In the west people treat marriage like a relationship that can be broken. In Romania it is more a sacred covenant you swear on the altar to God.
- A – Authentic – Life here has a rustic feel. It is real, not plastic, but at times spartan. Economics plays a big role in life here.
- N – Net, Romanians in dating age demographics use the web. As a percentage compared to other countries they are an average European country, but when you are talking about students, then Romanians are plugged in and this trend is not going away. Again I think it is a function of economics. I mean if you are living in a 50 meter flat in Iași or Cluj-Napoca what else are you going to do when the rest of your disposable income is paying off your highly inflated apartment. I think many young Romanians are borderline Internet addicts. I mean so am I, but this just tell you I guess you can meet Romanian girls online, I think FB has 3.5 million profiles for example.
- I - Imaginative – I do not know why but in Eastern Europe, I have found a disproportional number of hot chicks that are into science fiction and fantasy and creative arts. Much more so than in the West. I mean you have girls that look like Romanian models Alina Puscau or Ana Ularu but wear glasses and read imaginative literature on a park bench or a tram. I think it has to do with the weather or the harder economic conditions that make people more escapist.

I believe in the proverb ‘so as within, so is without’. That is, what you have going on in your inner life will eventually reflect your outer beauty. The majority of Romanian girls are still pretty humble, loyal, devout, educated good girls. Origins of Romanian girls
Romanian girls are an odd lot. They are actually ancient people’s influence by Romans culture as manifest by their language. However, their ethnicity is a mix of peoples whose names are not household words to most Westerners. The Roman province of Dacia was cut off during the collapse of the empire and some of the descendants lived in Slavic Eastern Europe along with indigenous people. In Romania there is also a large gypsy population (Indian origin) and even some Turkish, Hungarian and Tartar (all Asian). However, Slavic people are mixed of course. This is why Romanian girls are so beautiful. They are Latin, Slavic, Ancient Greek, Eastern and mixed with their Dacians and Illyrians base. They are a little bit something exotic, ancient and untamed.

One thing I have consistently noticed is that Romanian women, although often gorgeous, all seem to have very prominent (often hugely disproportionate) noses. I would be curious to know the origins of that physical characteristic if anyone has any insight?

By the way, in Romania are at least 8 types of races mixed, so, I may say that somatic look of Romanian girls is various of the region they were born.Many North East girls show a Russian face, slim body and whiter skin as the girls from South, who tend to be darker and oriental body type.

I just broke up w/ my Romanian girl who came to the US 8 years ago. They are very cold, and manipulative, extremely intelligent. Better watch for these girls in the US. Thanks for the report. Do you think it had to do with the fact she was Romanian or that is who she was all along? I remember when I was a new manager at a company and there was a troubled employee. I am a Romanian living in USA and I am happily married with an American woman( which is probably the best thing that happened to me). I was also married with a Romanian woman/lived in Bucharest for a while and went through an ugly divorce. I don’t know why some people compare here Americans with Romanians; this being said I see a lot of very acid comments on both sides. From my experience American people are just great; there is a major misconception regarding the average American; I find them very straight forward, honest, reliable and confident. American women are v different than Romanian women in a sense, that they really fight for what’s theirs. Romanian women, sorry to admit, are a lot more about money that any other women I’ve met so far. Romanians are indeed v good looking,slim figured, with a good common sense and traditional beliefs. But the whole society in Romania is in a psychological trauma, or psychosis even after 20 years of freedom, so everybody is hooked in this “rat race” the chase of material things, every single friend of mine that lives in Romania asked me all sorts of personal financial questions, as if this is all that matters to them. Romanians are not that poor like some people portray them , over 95% of population owns a property outright which is not the same in US, their debt is way lower than for the average US family, yet all they talk about is Money; everybody is obssesed with wealth/ getting rich overnight.American women are by no means ugly, they do have a problem with obesity indeed, but you can find over there any shape , color, look , style that you can imagine, from gorgeous Latinas,to the tinny thai girls or hot fillipino women, super hot black chicks, Cubans, Puerto-Ricans and the list goes on and on. I live in NC right now and I can tell you that you see a ton of gourgeous blondes and browns at every corner. They use make-up in much better way that Romanian girls do, not that obvious, and less harsh and they don’t dress that “sexy” kinda looking. Most of the women believe in God, truly not just for Easter and Christmas, and they don’t ask you how much you make or what car you drive first time they see you. So even though I have three sisters and I believe they are the greatest in the world,( 2 of them do live in US) , I would still favor the American woman against any Romanian slim and sexy chick.

As an American I appreciate the kind words and your experiences are different than mine. I would say many things you say are mostly correct, such as Romanians own land and houses outright, while Americans are leveraged to the hilt. Romania was deeply changed by the communist experience and it will take some time to heal. However, my experiences with Romanians are different than yours in terms of money. I think it is a matter of perspective.
I am an American living in Eastern Europe, but with roots here. You are a Romanian in NYC. Both of us have experienced both a honeymoon effect. That is we see the good in the new country more than our own. We might even project out own personal experiences on our society as a whole.
But the facts stand.
Romanians have a much lower divorce rate than Americans, this can not be debated. Although some Americans have faith, many do not and if you compare Romania to America. I think you would see Romanians are not as flashy about their faith, but perhaps take it more seriously. Romanian girls are thin. American girls have problems keeping below size 10. American women do not cook. Romanian women do cook. American women chase the dollar for ego, Romanians for survival. However, being an American I love America of course and think it is the greatest experiment on the planet. I just think statistically and in my personal experience (I am sorry about yours) you have a better chance in Eastern Europe of finding a girl who is sincere about love, and love alone is enough. That is the whole point to find one girl who thinks love and love alone is enough, not all the conditions. If you have found that in the USA, that is great.
I also think that foreigners in the USA from Europe get special treatment as Americans love Europeans. If you were a regular Joe from the neighborhood, you would have a different experience.

Fernando, I just read your comment bro, all I gotta say is don’t do it… Remember what I said about being conned, well luckily I wasn’t. But that’s only because I’m very weary of something being imposed on me. Why the rush to see you? Remember you’ll be alone in a foreign country, imagine all the things that can go wrong. In my case I met the 4 friends at the same time. I met one by chance on facebook and she introduced me to her friends and sister. Well let’s call her Alex, same as you she wanted me to visit, and never asked for anything, then she started wanting me to go and then started giving sob stories as to see if I would cop out some dough… gladly to say I didn’t. Turns out she was doing the same thing to about 5 other American guys with much looser wallets than myself I’m afraid. I eventually found out from one of her friends and later her sister confirmed it. I did eventually, travel to Buccuresti and Galati 18 months later and met with my other friends. I had a blast and they all seemed down to earth. In the end I got a better deal, I stayed in their apartment and in turn I gave them half the money I woud’ve spent on a hotel and driver. They were very greatful and we had more money to party.

I’m a Romanian girl that left Romania when I was 6, and raised in the US by Romanian parents. I am tall and normal weight like Romanian girls, but I am not cold and manipulative. In fact I married an American man for love, and in the end he ended up accusing me of cheating on him because of his insecurity. And I never did. He’s the only man I have ever been with. I just want to say that you can’t stereotype women by countries, the only way to look at women, at all people – is to judge their human character. Romanians had Dacian or Thracian ancestors unlike Slavs and when the romans came here they occupied 15% of Dacia and stayed here 160 years, then they retreated. after that there were Huns and gothic invasions but they were successive waves of immigration they did not stay here for long. the ones we mixed with the most were the Slavs in the 6th century and they were not like other invaders trying to claim land or slavicise us so we maintained our identity and language, but they did have the biggest impact on us much bigger than the roman empire. as for the ottomans(Turks)when they occupied east europe, Romanian territories managed to keep independence and autonomy but we had to pay a big annual tribute for our freedom. but they didn’t live and mix with us the way some say they did they were not even allowed to own land in vassal states

What a lot of interesting comments. My experience is that I’m an Englishman living in Romania. I do have a Romanian girlfriend and some before her. Some are manipulative, some kind and generous depends on the person. My current girlfriend is a pretty tough cookie but she can also be kind and giving.
Money is a big issue here, the crisis bit hard and most didn’t have a lot to start with. There are some people here with a lot of money, most through property speculation and business deals. But the gold-rush is finished and hopefully some common-sense will prevail.
This means that many are desperate to improve their lives and will manipulate and hoodwink you. Many good-looking women here are very aware of their attraction and know how to use it – so beware. On the other hand I’ve met many ordinary women, although not great beauties are very sincere.

Romanian girls are Orthodox and are religious. I do not think there is really any difference between Catholic and Orthodox in my book.
Finding a girl I would try both the city and the country. In the city you get many girls from the country, that is a lot of students who stay in Bucharest after their school to work. If you can deal with the competition language teachers and tour guides are a good place to start. These girls speak English and are very open to different cultures. However, I think that is a very methodical way to look at love.
I recommend just go there and travel around with an interest in the country and vacation, and with time, if something is ment to be, it will happen. Anyone else have suggestions?

admin i understand what u said…i dont know how things are going in america or in any other places…but i just said what i am seeing….I have friends and mates and people i know….they didnt get married after few days or few weeks..usually romanian people are waiting to know each other better …they try to see if they match….that’s why the rate of divorce is not so big like in other countries…because people here usually wait to see how things are going and after that they get marry…It can be just a crush…u dont have to know that….Also some of them live together even if they are not married for months or even years before they can say “YES”….

Yes, I wrote a long comment but I actually agree with you. Romanian girls like to take their time to build trust and feel out compatibility. It can happen that you would fall in love in 3 days but the reality is it takes a lot more time in a country like Romania. Western Ukraine is Catholic, Poland, Lithuania, Slovakia, Hungary etc. But I do not think it matters, Orthodox or Catholic, what matters if you find the right person for you, not some outward manifestation of faith. There are many nice girls in the world, I know them personally and they are pretty and would love to find their champion. I know so many super educated, yet humble girls who are thin and beautiful, I am not joking either. I live in Eastern Europe, its the norm. Now the ones that take their faith seriously are the rule not the exception I think anywhere east of the Oder river.

I do not think he means non Catholics are cold blooded and selfish. I do not think he means that at all. I think Elliot meant in his experience many women he tried to have meaningful relationships were very self absorb and take all you can get. While on the other hand women with ideals, including Catholics and Orthodox that take their faith seriously, might not be perfect, but aspire at least to develop in a more selfless way. Maybe I am wrong in my understanding of what he was conveying but I found this to some extent in my own experience.
There are people who have the courage of their convictions and ideals, no matter what the ideals are and those who do what fits them best. When you are talking about a life long partners, it makes sense to find someone who has a similar world view.
I have personally found many American women to have some vague new age semi agnostic belief system which translates to, I will stayed married to you until, I do not feel like it any more.
Contrast this with an old world belief system: Christians, Jewish, Muslims or Orthodox that marriage is not about feelings of the moment, but an ideal and meaning that our simple brains are not able to understand so we submit to God’s law and our beloved for better or for worst.

I guess thought you were talking about non-believers vs believers lets say. In my experience Orthodox and Catholic are basically the same. If you have encountered Romanian girls that are more distant, maybe it is the culture. That is in Eastern Europe, people are a little more serious than lets say America. In America people who do not know each other will talk to each other in an elevator. I could not see that happening in Poland. If Anything Poland, a Catholic country is more serious than Romania an Orthodox country.
However, for me, many American girls without any faith or strong values are the cold ones. Maybe smiles on the outside but cold and calculating on the inside. That was just my experience so do not take this as a universal thing.

I am Orthodox girl and if you have any percieved difference it is because of the weather. Think about it. Italy and Spain are Catholic and did not have communism like we had in Eastern Europe. Russia and Romania are Orthodox, who has better weather? Who had the communist experience’.

What about Greek girls? I think they are very sunny and Orthodox. I think Admin is right it is not a matter of which denomination but if a women is idealistic that will determine her attitude towards love. I am very idealistic that someday I will find my prince. But many of my friends are more as someone wrote ‘new wave’.
