I think the key thing is to focus on getting a visa not a citizship. You can get this if you are married to a Russian citizen and are in good standing and have your documents in order. It is no harder or easier than the USA for example. It would be good to learn a little of the Russian language, you do not have to be an expert, just learn it a little. Focus on vocabulary. It is like a country on the edge of the world, beautiful and lonely and romantic. I really love this type of atmosphere. I felt the same way.
