You can learn a languages. Just put your expectations about learning a language in perspective. In Europe, I see people study ten hours a week, many more for years and start to make slow progress. Americans tend to give up fast and expect fast results.

However, I would say this. All the programs out there and tricks and ways to learn a langugae fail because they give too much grammar or unneeded stuff at the start. No matter what langugae you study language follows basic rules that are similar in most languages. That is you need a pronoun and a Verb in a sentence or at least a verb.

What you need to do is learn about 2,000 words maybe 5,000 words with flashcards and no grammar. Then start speaking the language. You can do this by using mneumonic meneory association tricks. Use flashcards. Use MP3 to learn a language. Forget Rosetta, it is fancy but you need to down load only words, useful words in your brain by hearing them over and over on a MP# with a repeat cycle even while you nap and sleep. Let me know if you get this and have questions.

I was just passing through your site and didn't manage to restrain myself from comment.
I was just wondering at link below: it says that to say in Ukrainian "I love you" is "Я тебе люблю".
I would most definetly say: "Я тебе кохаю". I am from Ukraine.
It sounds more ukrainian, not russian-like.

From an early age I can't seem to learn any language. I tried in High School and pulled out 2 months later. 2 years ago I started learning German, I will learn key words, but I string a sentance together, can't interpret what others say to me, and can't plain old remember the stuff in the lesson.

I tired Italian just 2 weeks ago, and their way of teaching, Like Rosetta stone, talking to us and hoping we pick it up as you go did not work for me. I need to learn French as will be moving to a french speaking country in 2 years and can not seem to get motivated, learn the words, string anything together, and am willing to try hynotherapy now, even though I am not a storng believe in it. I don't believe someone else can take control of your mind, but I'm getting to the point I will try anything. Any advice?

Hi Mark,

I've just noticed that "darling" in Polish is ‘kochanie’ and Circassian people, who have been called as Cerkes (in Turkey) and/or Adige (in their language), are also used "kachen" for the darling. They were originally from South Cafcassia, and in Turkey and Jordan, There are lots of Cerkes people. Cerkes girls are famous of their beauty, here. My mother-in-law was Cerkes, and so my husband is half of it, and my daughter has some unique and pure beauty coming from these beautiful ancestors.

You may check it, i guess. It would be good for these silent and beautiful girls.

Polska księżniczka or Polska królewna The first is Polish princess and the second is Polish little queeny (princess) Which one did your grandfather call you? The later is used more I think. Really take your time and think about this as you want to get it right. I personally am not a big fan of tattoos as it is forever, maybe you want to get a temporary or three month one and see how it feels?

You need to be patient. English language learners read an intermediate stage faster than other languages for various reasons, however, to become really native fluent it is harder than other languages as it is so diverse and widely used and there are so many idioms. You have to be patient. If you could live in an English-speaking country for a while or in some way interact with a native speaker on a regular basis this will help. Movies and books are great as is the radio.

Eventually with years you will learn most of the idioms and usage. Your grammar seems fine, at least compared to other writers many native speakers so I would not worry about that. More focus on pronunciation at this point as if you reduce your accent you will most likely sound like a native. Americans use basic grammar for example, but can tell foreigner by their accent. Accent work takes work though.

I have to reduce my accent in Polish. It is possible but you need to practice with audio over and over until you get it right. If you are young it will fall into place anyway with more exposure to tha langauge.

Hi, well I hope you can help me. I don't know in which category I fit in. My parents are Argentinean, and I was born in the States. We lived there till I was 5. I could understand when they spoke in Spanish, but I used to speak in English. However, although I was more fluent in English, I wasn't as fluent as an English speaking child of my age. To make things worse, we moved to Argentina and I've been living here since. When I arrived, my parents sent me to an English institute where I didn't fit in since there wasn't a level for me, I was placed with bigger children and I got embarrassed by knowing more. I stopped speaking in English until I was ten, and after that I've been learning the language, but I feel that I am "learning" it instead of living it. I've tried with native teachers, but I still feel I don't control the language. I read, watch movies, everything in English, but I feel like I've hit a plateau. I've just started some German classes, and I notice the difference with my English knowledge but I don't know how to improve any further. I'm opened to any suggestion! And if there is any piece of advice for German learning I would be very thankful too. Best wishes, and thank you for reading. B.

Are the above vows the same for the woman and the man? Or is the top portion just for the woman, and the bottom portion for the man? My fiancee thinks its the latter because on the bottom half it says wife.
