One way I practice verb conjugations is I use English words in Polish and conjugate them with regular Polish endings. For example, I make the word “shoporowac” in Polish from the English verb “to shop”. Or “driwowac” meaning to drive. People understand me when I say these words in Polish even though there is no such Polish word. Then I conjugate the verbs. I for example say, “driwołem samohod’ I drove the car. This is a fun way to learn verb conjugations without too much trouble.

Polish pronunciation

Polish pronunciation and foreigners

Polish people are very open to foreigners and foreigners trying to learn Polish. However it is almost impossible to speak Polish without an accent, if you did not grow up and live your whole life n Poland.

Polish accents

With some minor exceptions like, those from the Tatra mountains or the East, Poland really does not have regional variations in accent. So Polish people can tell if you are not 100 % homegrown Polish.

How sensitive are Polish ears

That is right, if you learned Polish from yours parents in the States, Polish people can tell. If you are Polish born, but then move to the UK for a while, guess what, Polish people can tell. Even a few years abroad, can in some cases, change your Polish orthographically perfect Polish accent into something else, Polish is hard enough, however, Polish orthography and pronunciation is maybe harder. So that when Poles hear you speak, they will make a comment among themselves, oh he must have lived abroad for a while, you can hear his accent. Usually when they are watching someone on TV. It is not always the case of course. However, Polish has such rich distinct sounds, you pronunciation will be off if you do not hear and use it everyday. This makes Polish not only the hardest language to learn but also the most pronunciation sensitive language in the world.

Polish is the hardest language to learn in the world

What is the hardest language to learn for English Speakers? Take a guess; it is not Chinese or Japanese. It is Polish. Polish has seven cases and Polish grammar has more exception than rules. German for example has four cases all which are logical, seem to have no pattern or rules; you have to learn the entire language. Asia languages usually do not have cases, or at least like that.

Polish – hardest language pronunciation

The Pronunciation is eons harder than Asia language as it usually has long tong twisting consonants. For example a Polish sentence might look like this. Szczebrzeszynie chrząszcz brzmi w trzcinie i Szczebrzeszyn z tego słynie. Wyindywidualizowaliśmy się z rozentuzjazmowanego tłumu.
Further Polish people rarely hear foreign speak their language and with no accent or regional variation than pronunciation must be exact or they will have no idea what you are talking about.
So the next time you have herd someone has learned Polish have some respect. Polish is the hardest language to learn. But the truth is I doubt you will hear a native English Speaker, speak Polish beyond a few phrases. Can it be learned? Yes you can Learn Polish. People do, it just takes humility.
