The real economy in Russia

The economic situation in Russia is this. Russia and the Russians are getting rich, but the quality of life is not near that of Europe. My hope for Russia is they get a more open liberal economy that is pro business and pro trade with Europe. This will bring greater peace and wealth to the Russian middle class and Europe. There is a large base of people who make, what I consider a poor or lower middle class income. Then there are the top 3% who make a lot of money. Why? the Russian government supports big ‘natural resource’ companies. This is where the Russian people are getting rich. But only the elite. If you operate a small business in Russia you can ‘fly beneath the radar’ and no one will bother you. But once it gets larger, wow you have to start paying people and are slowed down by bureaucracy. So the net result is there is a weak middle economy. These small to mid sizes companies are important part of an economy for the middle class. Russia needs a stronger middle class.
