Natural language ability

“Do you sometimes think that you are just not very intelligent? Maybe you believe that you are lacking in natural ability when it comes to math or music or foreign languages or creative writing or home repairs.”

I know people will not believe me when I write this but it’s true. I have taught thousands of students over the years in language. And I never really met one of these language genius people talk about who can just pick up a language. Although I have personally taught people to fluency. Over the years all I have met were people who worked and some people who bragged and boasted. But I am their teacher and I could tell what was real and what was not. Most people learned a language because of their attitude. The end. If they had the attitude its fun, I am not afraid to experiment and watch movies and think in the target language and I really want to go to this country and speak it and studying even when I feel stupid and frustrated, then they become fluent. The ones that say I am not good with languages do not learn languages. Why? Not because this is true but they tell themselves its true. If you want to learn a language tell yourself can and you will learn your target language.
