Make a language progress graph
One the greatest personal goals I achieved was: when I was in school I used to lift weights, I was the skinniest kid growing up. With a goal in mind, I went from 150 lb to 225 lbs of muscle. I did this using a graph on the wall and focused on my goals. If I put this much effort into language learning I could have learned a few language. But I did learn a lesson, that is if you want to achieve a goal, track your progress, graph it.
Real language graph
If you want to learn a language make a graph. Not in excel or an electronic graph, but a graph with paper and put it on your wall. The X axis are days and the Y axis are the number of new words or phrases you learned, cumulative. If you were to do this you would learn a language.
How to learn a language
The problem of how to learn a language is usually that a person does not take responsibility for their own learning. Rather there is a diffusion of responsibility when they attend school, buy a book or a languag learning program. But your responsibility is to learn words everyday, and this should be a cumulative process. A language graph is a good way to do this. You will see tangible proof you are learning the language. Language goal, langugae graph will equal real progress in learning.
