Living in Poland for 5 years
On April 1st 2004 I moved to Poland. I have been living in Poland 5 years to the day. I did not expect to stay this long, but here I am. One thing I have learned about life is you can never predict the future. If someone were to tell me that I would be living in Krakow, Poland 10 years ago with my family I do not know if I would have believed them. I am glad I did move to Poland.
What has change in my life
I love the USA and may someday move back, however, five years since I left I have changed a lot. I changed my career, my skills, my language, my citizenship (kind of), my view of the world has also changed. I have always believe in love, love of God and family is the center of life, but I guess did not really live it until I moved to Poland. Living in Poland gave me time to think away from the rat race and I came to the conclusion that, Life is either all or nothing. Put love first and 100% or not at all. That is what I did. I have a wonderful wife, Kasia and daughter Łucja.
Why did I move to Poland?
I went to Poland because I wanted to learn Polish. I stayed in Poland because I meet Kasia. Since I was a kid my dream was to learn Polish. But everything else was more important than my dream. I think I lived a lot for other people’s expectations. In Poland I was far enough away to gain perspective.
What is it like living in a European country?
Nothing less than an adventure. Not everything is always great, but I was not foolish to move here. Basically you have more time for your life and less worry about work. Poland is developing fast I do not know if life will change here but if it does I will try to hold on to what I learned since I have been living here.
