When learning French and Spanish, in order to remember the gender of a noun I would always learn the noun alongside the article and an adjective that would change its sound depending on the gender. For example, by always creating my vocabulary notes as 'la maison belle' instead of just 'maison' I could always hear the phrase in my head and remember the gender.
