Self hypnosis for language learning
About a year ago I created a self hypnotic mp3 for myself. It was more an mp3 full of positive affirmations and motivational statements that encouraged me to study and use my target foreign language I was trying to learn. Affirmations such as ‘you try to think in a foreign language whenever possible”. The result, whether placebo or not was the postive language learning affirmations seemed to work.
But I got the idea in my mind that somehow I was cheating or rather it was too new agey for me as I am a concrete skeptical thinker. So I stopped. I am curious what other people thing of the idea of creating a motivational mp3 or even self hypnotic mp3 to help motivate you learn a language. Is it too ‘out there’? Did it work for only me or do others have exprience with self hypnosis postive affirmations? Is it something that I should include in my language learning program or will it discredit the seriousness of my efforts? This is more a question than a answer about self hypnosis and positive affirmations for language learning.

I would like to learn Chinese with your program, can you tell me more about these programs?
@maria gray, The Chinese program is a long way off. But I will basically have a learning language with music, mnemonics, etymology and brainwaves and another learning languages with visual association, using games, brainwaves and images. Neither have hypnosis in them however, I was thinking of including this as many people have asked for it. I make my own hypnosis – motivation mp3s but I think I have to do more research on its effectiveness.

I would like to learn Spanish. I’ve been married to my husband for 6 years now and only know the basics. Your program seems interesting but is there a way to be hypnotized into automatic language skills?
Hi, you can learn Spanish pretty fast, the best way is drilling words in your head with flashcards. There is not way to automatically get Spanish in your heard, that I know of at least. But there are many accelerated methods to learn Spanish. Try flashcards and listening to very relaxing music for about 15 minutes after studying for a simple way to help your learning.
Greek is a beautiful language. I like to learn Greek please beause my husband is Greek =) if anyone has any ideas let me know.

My program will help, but I believe in blood sweat and tears for learning a language. Once you accept that you need to work, there are many ways that help, like music, brainwaves, etc. But no automatic language learning.
i have great interest in this topic. I am of hispanic decent, but never learned a s a child. I one had a teacher who was very discouraging and told me I’d never be great at spanish. so I’ve had what i call a block for years. My sister has a very natural inclination towards languages. I’d like to find out a bout hypnosis to help remove that “block” and help encourage the work I put in.
Hello. I would like to learn Thai. Would using your self-hypnosis method help me, in conjunction with a commercial language course like Rosetta Stone Thai? I need to block distractions when I am not working at my job and am at home by myself. Thank you.
Dutch learning because moving to Holland
I am very intrested as I have moved to the Netherlands and am having alot of problems learning the language to the extent that I will lose my job in Febuary if I do not learn to communicate more. Can you help/advise.

Dutch is almost English, you can almost start watching Dutch TV on the Internet. Fiesian is even closer to English and can almost be understood. My advice is make flashcards and learn words. Do not worry about grammar until you know about 2000 words. Believe me it might not be the orthdox way to learn but it is the fastest. Learn abstract words more than concrete nouns which you will learn anyway.
I think it's a great idea and it makes a lot of sense
Using self-hyponosis to make believe that you CAN be good at the target language should work. The positive affirmations, self-fulfilling prophecies and positive goal-oriented mindset should greatly benefit your language learning.
Self-hyponosis should reinforce your learning. : )
