Gregorian chants
Gregorian chants are in my opinion the most soothing and flowing music there is. But I grew up listing to Gregorian chants, so perhaps I am partial. Regardless they have a real affect on your brain and can be used to help you learn languages.
Gregorian chants an brainwaves
Many studies have been done on music and the brain. There is no need to rehash these. Usually they talk about baroque music bringing you to an alpha state and this will enhance language learning and learning in general. However, I think theta and theta and even theta delta cusps which Gregorian chants produce in your brain are even more useful for language learning. Why? because most of language learning is about anxiety and frustration. For many of us to learn a language is like hitting your head against a wall until the wall starts to break. Gregorian chants are the most peace inducing music there is, it expands your mind and relaxes it. It gives you a sense of detachment. This is I think something like the state you have when you are a child. Theta waves produce greater receptivity than the alpha waves of baroque music, at least for me.
Gregorian chants and language learning
If you do not need to do complex grammar exercises try just laying down and listening to Gregorian chants while also listening to vocabulary you need to learn. Listen to maybe ten words over and over with Gregorian chants in the background. After about a half hour you will be surprised how relaxing and easy it was to learn ten new words. Just by listening to Gregorian chants.
