Language conversation lessons
As a language teacher the hardest thing for me is to get students talking. Some students talk all the time. Others will not open up and you have to really work to get them speaking beyond one word answers. I think its the act of speaking and using the lagnuage that is the most important. You can learn grammar, out of a book or in class, but the most important thing is speaking. Even I when in a country where the language is everywhere, I get someone who will do conversation lessons with me. Even if I have a girlfriend or friend that speaks the language, its not the same. You need to speak the language with someone listening and helping you.
Now the reality is I learned Polish without really any help. Just speaking the language and studying a bit on my own, however, when I did have a few conversation lessons my Polish really improved much faster. So I think if you can afford it, it is a good idea.
My point is, I think one of the best methods to learn is to speak even if you know only a few words. And if you can afford someone working with you one on one, all the better.
