As a native speaker of the American English, I am often attracted to speakers who have some sort of foreign accent. I find those who have a foreign accent to be the most fascinating people. The more interesting the accent, the more interesting the person is likely to be. The way they pronounce their words endear them to me, make them unique individuals. Of course, some accents can be too heavy and the speaker becomes almost unintelligible. And it's quite true that there are many careers in which a foreign accent is an impediment. But on a strictly personal level, the foreign accent often makes an individual unique and lovable. One recognizes immediately that this person is well-acquainted with another culture, and one is often intrigued by their views and opinions.
