Your brain plasticity will determine how fast your brain will grow

I was walking though ‘Las Wolski” (a deep forest) on Sunday in Kraków. I was trying to learn some new words in Polish connected with nature. Words I had never even herd before. My girlfriend told me about five Polish words in a childhood poem connected to nature. I had never herd the poem before nor the words. In a matter of a few minutes when I was walking with her I could recite this poem and know the meaning of the words.

Think about what is happening when your brain learns

In those few minutes, between the time when my brain first herd the Polish poem and I knew it and could recite it and even change a few things grammatically for fun and play with the words. In a matter of seconds my brain must have developed 100 connections. I had to learn the meaning of the words, the meaning in context, how to coordinate my tongue and mouth to replicate the sounds and even try to use some intonation. I had to learn the sequence of the poem. Then I could manipulate the words and the grammar based on what I know of Polish. Then this was all committed to memory.

Your brain makes the desert bloom

It was like I had an empty desert in my brain and now it was like the jungle like the forest I was walking though, with branches and roots shooting out everywhere across my brain in order to learn this Polish Poem. Image you are walking though a magical forest and everywhere before your eyes thing are moving and growing. On a micro level I can only image that my brain grew into a forest in a matter of minutes.

Brain flexibility is almost by definition the ability to learn

Your brain plasticity or flexibility will determine how fast you will learn. This is determined by 1) attitude 2) biology. If you have the attitude of a winner and will to try and learn and push beyond the point of frustration, your brain will grow. How healthy from a bio chemical stand point, will determine how well you can build and maintain connections.

The bottom line is your brain is an amazing organ that can grow complex connections, that we do not fully understand. Your brain can grow these connections in a matter of seconds, almost at the speed of light.
