The language of Art
Want to read and think better, to create art.
Improving students’ literacy levels using works of art may sound far-fetched.
But research by New York’s Guggenheim Museum suggests students who view, discuss and create works of art have an improved ability to think critically and read than their peers who have less exposure to art.
….
A study comparing the abilities of participants in the program with those who had not had an art education found learning about art gave students greater skills in observation, interpretation and hypothesis. And more importantly, these skills could be applied not only in the art room but in English classes as well.
